The IoT Customer Experience Revolution: Ready to win?

Why IoT Matters for the Next Level of Customer Experience
Our customers’ experiences are being defined by the increasing availability of big data. Every company requires it and most executives recognize its importance. However, many are still figuring out how to make sense of it all and how to harness big data to drive business results.
And, just as companies start to get their “data bearings”, a new kid shows up: The Internet of Things (IoT). IoT—the constant stream of real-time data from devices —is flipping the script on big data and analytics as we know it, redefining what it truly means to be a data-driven company.
Today, marketing organizations are at the forefront of data-driven insights. They use data from internal enterprise and external digital and social media to know their customers better, deepen relationships and tailor customer experiences. Until now, there wasn’t an organization better poised than the CMO’s team to take advantage of enterprise data for superior customer experiences. In fact, nearly 90% of CMOs expect to be responsible for the whole customer experience by 2020*.
But, with the advent of IoT, marketing teams cannot take on the responsibility of customer experience alone. They will need to partner with other teams led by CTOs, CIOs, COOs, and CSOs to deploy, secure, and manage the plethora of devices that will take their customer insights to the next level.
And before you chalk IoT up to the latest industry buzzword, consider this: 51% of the world’s top marketers see IoT revolutionizing the industry by 2020. In addition, it’s estimated that 127 new devices are connected to the internet every second, and more than 75 billion devices are expected to be connected by the year 2025—which means the IoT data deluge shows no signs for slowing down.
The bottom line? The future of using IoT big data is already here. IoT is no longer the “next big thing”—it’s the new norm. So, there’s no time like the present to explore how you can harness the potential of IoT.
